Preparing for a newborn session as a new parent can feel daunting…
You’re probably asking yourself what all will you need to pack and bring for your session. You may be wondering what to do if your baby cries or you need to feed them during your time with your photographer. First of all, don’t fret. As a professional newborn photographer, it’s my job to help you navigate this moment with as much ease and as little stress as possible.
The top three tips I can give new or experienced parents before arriving to a newborn session are the following:
1. Prep work: Make sure your baby is fed and sleepy before arriving. Sometimes keeping them up longer beforehand helps to have a sleepier baby for your session. You will also have time to change and top off baby after arriving.
2. Bring snacks: If older siblings are coming along, bring snacks and even an iPad to help with entertaining after we are done with those special sibling shots. Sometime bringing an extra set of hands along can help to if little one’s get stir crazy after family photos.
3. Prepare to go slow: My goal is to get the best and most important images during our time together. Sometimes that means sitting and waiting on baby to fall asleep. Sometimes that means feeding baby again. Patience is key! Know that I’m in no rush and am always happy to take time to get the perfect shot.
Know that we are going to get some amazing photos of you and your newest family member. With a little prep work, your session will be amazing!
